What we do
We are a charitable Search and Rescue organisation (SCO 24517).
Our purpose is to locate and recover people who have found themselves in difficult situations in the outdoors.
If you need us
Call 999 and ask for Police and then Mountain Rescue.
We will respond to your call for help any time and in any weather conditions. We don’t charge for our services.
Resources
We are a Team of 35 mountaineers with specialist training.
We make use of specialist helicopters and search dogs where necessary and our running costs are supported by donations and fundraising.
Community
We are keen to raise awareness about how to enjoy the outdoors as safely as possible.
Community groups are welcome to visit us and we provide first aid cover to a number of outdoor events.

The team were called out by Police Scotland Forth Valley this morning to assist a dog who had fallen into a gorge in the Alva area.![]()

Following discussions with the police, the team deployed to assist to ensure that no one else would be put at risk trying to rescue the dog.![]()

A team member abseiled into the gorge to secure the dog and make him safe while other team members set up a technical rope rescue system to then send another team member down and bring all three back up to safety.![]()

The dog walker did exactly the right thing by asking for assistance and we are delighted to report that Hamish is no worse off for his morning adventure. 🐶![]()

Last weekend, some members of Ochils headed to Rjuken, Norway for additional winter training. ![]()

Teaming up with Rjukan og Tinn Røde Kors Hjelpekorps (the Norwegian Red Cross), we engaged in an avalanche training exercise, to enhance our response and revisit those vital skills.![]()
